WPQ Polo 5's 2022

Water Polo Queensland (WPQ) is excited to again host the WPQ Polo 5's Competition. Following the success of the last WPQ 5s competition, WPQ will again run the Polo 5's Competition as a way to offer a short, fun, social competition for Seniors and those aged U18 years to get back into the pool.

2022 Water Polo Queensland Calendar of Events

WPQ has developed a 3-5 year Competitions and Events calendar which appears on the WPQ website. This calendar aligns with the National Competitions and Events framework and provides greater planning certainty for all players and their families.

Water Polo Live Stream - News Corp Partnership

Water Polo Australia (WPA) and News Corp Australia will partner in a new national broadcast streaming deal that is set to bring over 200 water polo games live between January and May 2022. 

UQ Affiliation Update

Previously, we voted for the Barracudas to affiliate with the University of Queensland and I am pleased to announce that we are to see this officially take place in the coming weeks with a change in our club's name and branding across uniforms, website and social platforms. The merge aligns us to the University of Queensland as one of their affiliate clubs. This will see us change our name to the University of Queensland Water Polo Club.

Water Polo Queensland - A Grade Competition Structure

The Southeast Queensland A-Grade Competition, as part of the BWPI summer competitions, will offer a second-tier competition for those aspiring to compete in the Premier League. It will also provide participating Clubs/Associations the opportunity to develop potential talent for the Premier League. In the future, it is likely that the A-Grade Competition will see the formation of a promotion and relegation format, which will see Premier League and A-Grade teams vying to remain in the Premier Comp

BWPI Junior Competition Details and Proposed Changes

BWPI and WPQ met last Friday to discuss the results of the survey and to confirm the proposed details and changes for the 2021/2022 BWPI Competition. We understand there are some varying views presented in the survey but we have considered all responses and will be guided by the clear majority of responses in most cases. BWPI and WPQ have also decided to trial a few new changes to try to achieve the key outcomes of the competition being:
